Afghan Taliban Red Unit Commander killed in airstrikes, claims military

KABUL – Afghan Military has claimed killing Taliban Red Unit Commander andatleast 27 members in a deadly air strike.

Atleast twenty seven militants of the Red Unit of Taliban were killedduring the airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East in a statementsaid the 02 Unit of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF)based in Nangarhar province carried out airstrikes in Khogyani district,leaving at least 27 militants of the Red Unit of Taliban dead.

The statement further added that the airstrikes were carried out in Zawaarea of the district and as a result at least 3 militants were also wounded.

A number of the commanders of the Red Unit of Taliban were also among thosekilled, the 201st Silab Corps added.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have notcommented regarding the airstrikes so far.
