Committee of Political Parties in Afghanistan make a request to Afghan Taliban

KABUL – Committee of Political Parties in Afghanistan make a request toAfghan Taliban over the peace deal.

The high powered committee requested the Afghan Taliban to make peace talksdirectly with the Afghan people and the political parties.

Officials from the Committee of Political Parties and Political Movementson Tuesday said that recent trips by senior members of the Taliban toRussia and then Iran indicate that the group is trying to resume talks withthe US.

But Mohammad Mohaqiq, the leader of Hizb-e-Wahdat-e-Islami party statesthat the Taliban should come up with a clear position towards making thepeace locally–in Afghanistan.

“ [The Taliban] should come and sit like brothers with the Afghan people.They accept us and we will accept them. We should avoid insulting eachother,” said Mohaqiq.

Mohammad Natiqi, the chairman of the Committee of Political Parties andPolitical Movements, said that the regional countries–and powerfulcountries– have not, as a whole, dealt with the Afghan peace process withhonesty.
