Thousands of Kashmiris defy curfew to attend funeral prayers of martyred youth

SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people took to the streets inIslamabad and Kulgam areas to mourn the killing of three youth by Indianforces amid continued military siege and communications lockdown on the74th consecutive day, today, in the territory.

The troops martyred the youth, Zahid Ahmad, Nasir Chadro and Aaqib AhmadSheikh, in a fake encounter in Pazalpora area of Islamabad districtyesterday. People including women and children thronged Bijbehara, Arwaniand Redwani, the hometowns of the martyrs, to have their last glimpse.Shouting pro-freedom slogans and waving Pakistani flags, the mournerscarried the bodies to the local graveyards for burial.

Meanwhile, on the 74th successive day of military siege and communicationsblockade in Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region, mainbusiness activities continued to remain suspended and public transport wasoff the road.

The Resistance Youth League has issued a protest calendar for upcomingweek, urging people to follow the programme in letter and spirit.

In London, the speakers at a Kashmir conference called upon theinternational community to take notice of massive human rights violationsin occupied Kashmir. The event was organised by Jammu and KashmirSelf-Determination Movement International at House of Commons.

Members of all political parties at a debate in Bradford City Hallcondemned the human rights violations taking place in occupied Kashmir.
