ISLAMABAD: European Union makes a big offer to Pakistan over the FinancialAction Task Force greylist, Media Report had revealed.
The European Union has offered technical assistance to Pakistan forimplementation of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plan by thecountry.
A joint press release issued at the conclusion of the tenth session of theEuropean Union-Pakistan Joint Commission in Brussels on Friday says the twosides emphasised the importance of the implementation of FATF action planby Pakistan. The Pakistan side at the meeting appreciated the EU’s offer oftechnical assistance.
Implementation of ‘GSP-Plus’, issues hampering trade and investment, andimproving the business climate remained focus of the discussion during themeeting.
On development cooperation, the EU and Pakistan appreciated the encouragingprogress of ongoing activities and exchanged views on priorities concerningcooperation beyond 2020.
The plenary of the joint commission was preceded by meetings of sub-groupson trade, development cooperation, democracy, governance, rule of law andhuman rights on Nov 13-14.
During the sub-group on democracy, governance, rule of law and humanrights, the two sides reaffirmed their strong support for democraticinstitutions, rule of law, good governance, the promotion and protection ofhuman rights, labour rights, and fundamental freedoms, according to thepress release.
Pakistan briefed the EU side on the recent developments in the region andhighlighted its concerns regarding human rights and the humanitariansituation in India-held Jammu and Kashmir.
