*KABUL – Top Afghan Officials hint at releasing key Taliban Commanderincluding Anas Haqqani.*
*Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish on Friday said that theAfghan government is ready to release the Taliban prisoners.*
*Prisoners release will help promote confidence-building measures andcreate conditions for peace negotiation talks between the Afghan governmentand the Taliban.*
*Earlier the media reports have revealed background contacts between US andAfghan Taliban over release of top commanders including Anas Haqqani fromHaqqani Network.*
Danish said that the Taliban must show their desire for peace by reducingthe scale of violence and by agreeing on a ceasefire.
Peace without the involvement of Afghans in the process is one-sided,Danish said while addressing a crowd of people gathered to mark the 12thanniversary of the death of Sayed Mustafa Kazemi, the former Minister ofCommerce, Kabul MP, and head of the Economic Commission of the WolesiJirga, the Lower House of the Parliament.
“We are ready to release of Taliban inmates within the framework of thelaws of the country, but, on the other side, a reduction in violence,implementation of a ceasefire and the start of direct peace negotiationtalks are the key to boost confidence,” said Danish.
Danish meanwhile rejected the prospect for the creation of an interimgovernment in the country.
“Speculations about an interim government push us towards new crises,” hesaid.
