ISLAMABAD – In occupied Kashmir, the sufferings of millions of peopleliving in Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu regioncontinued unabated due to strict military siege imposed by India on the90th straight day, Saturday.
Normal life remained badly affected in Kashmir Valley and parts of Jammudue to unrelenting restrictions under section 144 and gag on internet andprepaid cellular services.
The occupation authorities despite all-out efforts have failed to engineernormalcy in occupied Kashmir as people continue to observe shutdown to showtheir resentment against India’s recent actions in the territory.
Barring a few hours in the morning and evening, shops and businessestablishments remain closed most of the time.
Public transport is off the roads while students are not attending schoolsand colleges except those who have to appear in the examinations for 10thand 12th classes.
Meanwhile, posters displayed in Srinagar have warned that any Kashmiripolitician found overtly or covertly cooperating in any way with BharatiyaJanata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will face stern action by thepeople.
Unidentified persons set ablaze a government school building by hurlingpetrol bombs in Kumdlan area of Shopian district. Indian police arrested ayouth in Sopore.
On the occasion of 35th anniversary of Sikhs massacre in India after themurder of Indira Gandhi in 1984, thousands of Sikhs and Kashmiris took tothe streets of Geneva to protest against the Indian forces’ crackdown inPunjab and occupied Kashmir.
Sikhs and Kashmiris in solidarity with each other and other minorities inIndia marched from Palais Wilson to United Nations Human Rights Counciloffices in Geneva, where the protest rally converted into a large gatheringat Broken Chair monument in front of the UN office.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards with slogans like “Stopgenocide of Sikhs and Kashmiris” and “Indian army quit Kashmir.”
