Security threat: Drones and UAVs banned in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The district administration warned that certain segments ofUn-manned AeriallinkVehicles(UAVs) can be used in Islamabad by the miscreant to sabotage securityduring Azadi March.

“It has been informed that a certain segment of public operates ‘Un-mannedAerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Islamabad which pose a unique threat to theprecarious security situation of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).These UAVs can be used by miscreants to conduct terrorist acts in the areasthat have been secured and safeguarded against ground attacks. Any possibleterrorist attacked would jeopardize the security of the residents of ICTand sensitive installations that would create law and order situation andthreat public peace at large,” said in the order issued by the DistrictMagistrate Islamabad.

Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat, clarified when contactedthat all kinds of Un-manned Aerial Vehicles including drones and airplanesfly with the remote control systems, have been banned in Islamabad for theperiod of two months.

The other sources of the Islamabad Administration told The News when askedthat the use of drone cameras by media would also be strictly prohibitedduring the coverage of Azadi March.
