ISLAMABAD – Egyptian paratroopers have arrived in the Pakistani capital ofIslamabad to participate in a joint Egyptian-Pakistani training called FajrAl-Sharq 1 (“Dawn of the East 1”).
The drills are expected to last for two weeks and include the Egyptian,Pakistani, and Jordanian armed forces, with a number of other countries asobservers, Ahram online has reported.
A coordination conference was held between the participating forces tounify concepts and achieve integration and familiarity between theimplementing elements, to contribute to the standardisation of operationalconcepts and coordinate efforts, to carry out joint team work accuratelyand efficiently.
The drills include the implementation of many activities and events andtypical and non-typical shooting, in addition to training incounter-terrorism.
The training represents a quantum leap for the military relations betweenEgypt and Pakistan, as it is the first of its kind.
It aims at providing a rich environment with mutual field and tacticalexperiences to raise the level of preparedness and combat readiness of theparticipating forces and enhance the combat and technical capabilities ofboth sides.
The training is part of a series of joint drills carried out by theEgyptian armed forces with many brotherly and friendly countries, totransfer and exchange experiences and support security and stabilityefforts.
