KABUL – Afghanistan India ink extradition treaty and Pakistanis may becomevictim of agreement.
The acting minister of foreign affairs, Idrees Zaman, and the Indianambassador in Kabul, Vinay Kumar, on Monday signed an extradition treatybetween Afghanistan and India.
The document was already approved and ratified by the relevant authoritiesof both governments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement inNew Delhi, India on September 14, 2016, TOLO News has reported.
Under this agreement, the two countries will be able to deliver a personaccused of, or convicted of, committing a crime to the other country’s lawenforcement. It is a cooperative law enforcement process that requiresformal arrangements.
India’s Embassy in Kabul in a tweet said that Ambassador Vinay Kumar andActing Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman “took a step closer to cementbilateral relations” by ratifying the India-Afghanistan Extradition Treaty.
The Times of India said that once the treaty is fully in effect, it willenable India to extradite terrorists of Pakistani origin who operate onAfghan soil.
