PM Imran Khan makes a big offer to the major Chinese Companies

ISLAMABAD – Ambassador Sha Zukang, former Under Secretary General of theUnited Nations and current President of China-Pakistan FriendshipAssociation, called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday.

Ambassador Sha is leading a delegation of major Chinese companies visitingPakistan to explore Pakistan’s business potential and to invest in thecountry.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, while welcoming Ambassador Sha’s delegation toPakistan, underscored the closeness and depth of Pakistan-China ties.Underlining that CPEC was a transformational project, the prime ministerinvited the Chinese companies and investors to invest in diverse sectors inPakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan added that CPEC, a flagship project ofPresident Xi Jinping’s BRI, was helping reinforce economic development notonly of Pakistan but would also contribute to regional prosperity. “Itssecond phase will focus on industrialization, agriculture andsocio-economic development.”

During the meeting, Ambassador Sha underscored that Pakistan and China wereAll-Weather Strategic Co-operative Partners and their partnership was aimedat promoting peace, development and prosperity in the region. He emphasizedthat the special relationship between the two countries was reflected inexpression of warmth by Chinese people towards Pakistan at every occasion.

Ambassador Sha stressed that the Chinese investors were confident aboutPakistan’s economic potential and hoped that the economic relationshipbetween the countries would reach the level of their excellent politicalrelations. Ambassador Sha’s delegation includes companies related to realestate, construction, engineering, textile, IT and industrial sectors. Thedelegation visited Peshawar today and is also scheduled to visit Lahore,Karachi and Gawadar.

The delegation will meet leading bankers, industrialists, entrepreneurs,financial experts, business chambers, and senior officials to deepen itsinsights and understanding of the economic opportunities in Pakistan.
