ISLAMABAD – Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Textile AbdulRazak Dawood Sunday said the government was formulating a policy toincrease exports and decrease imports for the economic stability of thecountry through offering lucrative incentives to industrialists andbusinessmen.
He was speaking in a prize distribution ceremony at the concluding day ofthree-day 11th mega “Interiors Pakistan” international exhibition at ExpoCenter Lahore organized by Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC),” says a pressrelease issued here Sunday.
He also appreciated PFC Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq for holdingsuccessful exhibition and said PFC deserved appreciation for promoting theculture of local brands to strengthen the national economy.
He said the government was working on short and long term policiessimultaneously to boost economy of the country.
The Advisor was of the opinion that due to business friendly policies ofthe government, Pakistan had climbed 28 points on the World Bank’s ease ofdoing business index that has given an encouraging signal to the investorsfrom abroad.
He said Japan, Vietnam and South Korea as well as the other Pacific andSouth East Asian markets would also be connected as the government wouldnegotiate with these countries for promotion of trade.
Abdul Razak Dawood said workers of this industry had great skills andpotential and if used properly, Pakistan could become the best exporter offurniture.
He said with development of furniture industry, it would be easy to meetlocal and international needs.
He also visited various stalls of the exhibition and praised theworkmanship, quality and design of the various items on display.
On this occasion, PFC Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq expressed hisgratitude for visiting exhibition as chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
He also assured the advisor that the business community of the countrywould provide its full support to the government towards implementing itsreform agenda and overcoming the current economic challenges.
He said PFC was playing its due role efficiently for promoting of furniturebrands not only inside the country but also abroad by displaying worldclass innovative designs suit to aesthetic sense of buyers.
He said Pakistan had potential to enhance furniture exports to USA andEurope by developing good brands and business community should focus onbranding of products to promote business activities and improve exports.
Abdul Razak Dawood presented certificates of participation to the stallholders while PFC Chief Mian Kashif presented the Adviser with a shield.
