Federal government decides to connect Pakistan Railways with Afghanistan under CPEC project

ISLAMABAD – The Senate was informed on Tuesday that Pakistan Railway hasstarted twenty-four new trains with the same rolling stock and humanresources and earned additional 4.938 billion rupees.

Minister for Railway Sheikh Rashid told the House during the Question Hour,that the deficit of Railways has been reduced to 32 billion as compare to40 billion rupees of last year.

The minister said we are making efforts to further reduce the deficit. Hesaid we have earned record revenue of 54.50 billion rupees during currentfiscal year.

Sheikh Rashid said the government is planning to enhance the old route ofPeshawar-Torkham route to Jalalabad under CPEC. The new route will ensurethe direct flow of Afghan international transit to Afghanistan.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati said that work isunderway on the project of Signal Free Corridor of Islamabad Highway fromFaizabad to Rawat.

Answering a question in the Senate, he said there is no proposal to installtraffic signals on U-turns between PWD Housing Society and T-Chowk Rawat.

In written reply, Interior Ministry has informed the House that there are218 parks are in Islamabad out of which six are major parks.

The Ministry said that the major parks include, Lake View Park, FatimaJinnah Park, Rose and Jasmine Garden, Play Land Park, Ankara Park andKachnar Park. It said that wheel chairs are also available for disablecitizens in these parks. The Ministry said that a survey is also beingconducted for identification of all such parks where ramps are required.
