ISLAMABAD – The United Kingdom (UK) on Friday changed its travel advice toreflect the improved security situation in Pakistan.
“Today’s announcement is the result of a comprehensive review of UK traveladvice for Pakistan, based on a wide-ranging assessment of the country’ssecurity situation. This is the first major update in the travel advicesince 2015,” a British High Commission’s press release here said.
The improved security situation allowed for the return of British Airwaysto Pakistan in June 2019 and the visit by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridgein October 2019.
Among other changes, the advice now allowed for travel by road to the northof Pakistan as well as the Kalash and Bamboret valleys, the press releaseadded.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner, also in a videomessage posted on his twitter account in English and Urdu, said: “Followingmy arrival in December 2019, I made this review of the travel advice apriority.
“It is great credit to the hard work of the Government of Pakistan indelivering improved security over the past five years. I am delighted thatBritish nationals will be able to see more of what Pakistan has to offer.”
