KABUL – Important progress reported in Pakistan Afghanistan high leveldialogues over peace process.
Afghan officials and Pakistan’s deputies ministers attended the secondreview meeting of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace andSolidarity (APAPPS) in Kabul on Monday, discussing counterterrorism, theexpansion of bilateral economic cooperation, security cooperation,refugees, and the Afghan peace process through five working groups.
The first review meeting of the APAPPS was held in Islamabad last year,TOLO News has reported.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mirwais Nab at a press conference onMonday said Pakistan’s fence-building along the Durand Line, and shellingby Pakistani forces, were shared with Pakistani officials at today’smeeting in Kabul.
He said Pakistan announced its support of the Afghan-owned peace process.
“The government of Pakistan reiterated its support for the Afghan-led peaceprocess and to an Afghanistan that never returns to dark days,” Nab said.
He added that the problems of Afghan refugees in Pakistan were discussed,as well as strengthening Kabul-Islamabad relations, trade and transitissues, and the peace process.
“We agreed to expand relations of the two countries not only at thebilateral level but with trilateral and multilateral mechanisms,” he said.
Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood led the Pakistan delegation, which iscomprised of senior officials, according to Pakistan’s Foreign AffairsMinistry.
