FAISALABAD: The government is making efforts to develop the informationtechnology (IT) infrastructure in Pakistan and in this connection, basicand fundamental structure is being provided to IT companies, said PakistanSoftware Export Board (PSEB) Senior Manager Infrastructure Muhammad Akbar.
In a meeting with Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI)President Hafiz Ihtesham Javed on Saturday, Akbar stressed that theinfrastructure would help the educated youth of Pakistan to develop andexport software to the growing global markets.
He said his company was presently running 14 software technology parkswhile in the next phase, 40 more parks are planned to be established indifferent cities, including Faisalabad.
He gave details regarding the performance of the 14 functioning softwaretechnology parks in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.
Akbar said that Faisalabad possessed immense potential to develop afull-fledged IT industry, adding that the IT ministry was streamlining itspolicies to further develop this sector at the grassroots level.
“It will also be used to create employment opportunities in the country,”he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the FCCI president appreciated the efforts of thegovernment to develop the IT sector and pointed out that the FCCI hadallocated a floor in its complex for establishment of Techno Park.
