ISLAMABAD- The federal government has given a green signal for “action”against estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen.
According to the sources, there had been three meetings held between JahangirTareen link and Barrister AliZafar, who is probing Tareen’s role in the sugar scandal.
Ali Zafar had quizzed Jahangir Tareenlink the charges levelledagainst him in the FIR, the sources divulged.
The sources also disclosed that former chairman Federal Bureau of Finance(FBR) Shabbar Zaidi assisted Jahangir Tareenlink on legal issues.
Shabbar Zaidi also put forward evidence to nullify the charges registeredin the FIR, the sources said.
There was also a meeting between Jahangir Tareenlink, Ali Zafar and SpecialAssistant to PM on Accountability and Interior Shahzad Akbar, who raisedquestions about Ali Zafar’s report.
Now, the Prime Minister’s House has directed Shahzad Akbar to move the caseforward and ignore any pressure, the sources further said.
It may be mentioned here that one of Tareen’s loyalists Raja Riaz hadclaimed last week that Barrister Ali Zafar had completed his investigationand his report gave a ‘clean chit’ to Jahangir Khan Tareen.
Barrister Zafar, however, rejected Raja’s claim saying that he had notsubmitted any report to the Prime Minister as yet.
On Monday, a court in Lahore had extended the interim bail of JahangirTareen link and his son tillJune 11 in a money laundering case. Additional Sessions Judge Hamid Hussainwho heard the case expressed his displeasure over the transfer of theInvestigation Officer without seeking the court’s permission.
Deputy Director FIA Rana Shahbaz informed the court that transfers andpostings were made in the entire FIA cadre.
The judge issued a show-cause notice to the FIA official who issuedtransfer orders of FIA’s Investigating Officer.
He also declared that he would not be hearing this case from now onwards asa new judge had been appointed to hear this case.
