General Sahir Shamshad: Anti-State Accounts Spread Lies About Retired CJCSC Mirza

ISLAMABAD: A network of prominent anti-state political social mediaaccounts has launched a fabricated narrative surrounding the honourableretirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General SahirShamshad Mirza, official sources disclosed on Saturday.

According to well-placed officials, these elements are once againattempting to incite unrest and sow discord through a coordinated politicalagenda aimed at undermining national stability.

The latest wave of misinformation falsely links General Mirza to the eventsof 9 May 2023, despite the claims being entirely baseless and contradictoryto established facts.

Officials emphasised that the propagandists demonstrate complete ignoranceof the Pakistan Army’s internal command structure while deliberatelymisleading the public for malicious purposes.

On 9 May 2023, when PTI supporters attacked military and stateinstallations, the armed forces’ response was carried out strictly throughthe official chain of command under direct instructions of the Chief ofArmy Staff.

The position of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee holds nooperational role in Army matters or any sister service, a structuralreality that remained unchanged during the 9 May incidents.

Consequently, the CJCSC office had zero involvement in any institutionaldecisions or operational instructions on that day, rendering all relatedallegations against General Mirza factually incorrect and propagandistic.

Military sources described the campaign as a conspiracy-driven effortdesigned to malign state institutions, erode public trust, and damagenational unity at a sensitive juncture.

Such recurrent disinformation tactics, officials warned, pose a seriousthreat to internal cohesion and play into the hands of hostile elementsseeking to weaken Pakistan.
