Ex PAF Air Marshal Javad Saeed Court Martialled for Leaking Secrets to Brother in US?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force has confirmed that former Air MarshalJavaid Saeed is facing a Field General Court Martial for allegedly sharinghighly sensitive operational information with his brother based in theUnited States, a spokesman told BBC Urdu in an exclusive interview.

The spokesman revealed that the retired officer disclosed classifieddetails, including the exact types and numbers of fighter aircraftstationed at Mianwali Airbase, to his brother abroad, compromising nationalsecurity protocols.

He categorically rejected claims linking the court martial to any internaldissent, insisting the proceedings were initiated solely on evidence ofbreach of confidentiality and violation of the Official Secrets Act.

The wife of the retired Air Marshal, however, alleged to BBC that theaction was retaliatory, claiming her husband had prepared a white papercriticising the current Air Chief for allegedly exceeding his authority.

The PAF spokesman dismissed any connection between the purported documentand the ongoing court martial, noting that no such paper was ever mentionedin the officer’s petitions to the Ministry of Defence or in judicialfilings.

BBC stated it could not independently verify the existence of the allegedwhite paper, while the air force maintained the disciplinary processfollowed due procedure after concrete evidence emerged during routinemonitoring.

The case has triggered debate within defence circles about the balancebetween institutional accountability and protection of whistle-blowersraising concerns over command structure.

Legal experts say convictions under military justice for leaking sensitiveinformation can lead to severe penalties, including lengthy imprisonment.
