Complete shut down strike observed in Indian occupied Kashmir on 3rd death anniversary of Afzal Guru

SRINAGAR:  A complete shutdown strike is being observed across the Kashmir valley in view of 3rd death anniversary of Afzal Guru.

The shutdown call was given by all separatists groups and all the shops, business establishments and public transport remain closed.

Strict security measures were adopted and Para military troops and police were deployed in sensitive areas to avoid protest.

Some political leaders were also arrested by police during protest. Political leaders decided to stage a peaceful protest on February 10.

Afzal Guru was convicted for Parliament attack in December 2001 in India and secretly hanged 3 years ago in New Delhi’s Tehar Jail.
