ISLAMABAD: The newly appointed Ambassador of Iran Mehdi Honardoost called on Advisor to the PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz here on Tuesday in Islamabad. Both dignitaries exchanged views over the regional security situation.
As per Foreign Office statement, Sartaj Aziz expressed his grief over the growing tussle between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Sartaj assured to Iranian Ambassador that Pakistan is ready to play its role as an arbitrator to resolve the Iran-Saudi dispute.
He emphasized that both countries should resolve their issues through dialogues and other Islamic countries should also play their role to settle the dispute.
Sartaj congratulated Mehdi on his appointment and expressed his hope that Mehdi will work to further enhance the bilateral ties and strengthen the economic cooperation between both countries.
“The Ambassador stated that he looked forward to making positive contributions to Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, particularly enhancing economic cooperation and promoting trade”.
He also conveyed the greetings of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to the Adviser.
