LAHORE: (APP) Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Monday said that first botanical garden of its kind has been set up in Jallo Park which is unique in the country.
The CM expressed these remarks while addressing a video conference at Civil Secretariat, here on Monday.
The chief minister said that soft image of Pakistan would also improve with the setting up of the botanical garden and tourism would flourish. He said that comprehensive planning should be made to run this project on permanent basis.
The meeting reviewed the measures for future planning of the botanical garden.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to employ guides in the botanical garden for the benefit of tourists and best lighting arrangements should also be made in the garden for the night.
He said that all steps should be outsourced so that excellent facilities could be provided to the tourists, adding that system of botanical garden would have to be run in a professional manner so that it could last for a long time.
The chief minister while issuing instructions for setting up Punjab Botanical Garden Authority said that this authority would look after the project.
He directed that framework should be evolved for setting up the authority, adding that immediate steps should be taken for the establishment of education and research centers in the botanical garden.
DG Walled City Lahore Kamran Lashari, Vice Chairman PHA Iftikhar Ahmed, Secretary Local Government, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore Division, DCO Lahore, DG Punjab Horticulture Authority, MD NESPAK and officials concerned attended the meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link.
