Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed that following Trump’s revamped strategy towards stability would allow the region to work together in achieving mutual goals of peace and prosperity.

In a veiled criticism towards Pakistan, the president also highlighted that Trump’s policy would clear the pathway for regional countries to end support for non-state actors.

Ghani claimed that the ties between Afghanistan and US were the strongest than ever before to fight militancy and terrorism that poses a threat to the entire region.

“The strength of our security forces should show the Taliban and others cannot win a military victory. The objective of peace is paramount. Peace remains our priority,” he added.

It is relevant to mention that US president Donald Trump unveiled a bit harsh Afghan policy on Monday in which he announced keeping US forces on Afghan soil, despite promising otherwise before entering Oval office.

Apart from Afghanistan, what bothers Pakistan, a close ally of US is the fact that Trump asked Pakistan to do more in the fight against Pakistan.

‘We can no longer be silent about Pakistan’s safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond.
