Pakistan responds back hard to the Indian allegations over Hafiz Saeed release

ISLAMABAD – Jamaatud Dawa Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan on Friday said it remained committed to the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267.

In response to a question regarding comments made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the release of Hafiz Saeed, the Foreign Office, while rejecting the self-serving insinuations of India, said that Pakistan remained committed to the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267.

Pakistan has taken several steps in implementing the sanction regime in compliance with the resolution, the FO spokesperson said in a statement issued here.

In the aftermath of Saeed’s release on Thursday, India external affairs ministry had said, “The release [of Hafiz Saeed] again confirmed the lack of seriousness on the part of the Pakistan government in bringing perpetrators of terrorism to justice, including individuals and entities so designated by the United Nations.”

Rubbishing Indian claims of lack of seriousness on Pakistan’s part, the FO spokesperson said the courts in Pakistan, pursuant to their constitutional duty, were determined to uphold the rule of law and due process for all citizens of Pakistan.

Stressing the need for a fair trial, he said it was in the interest of all states to speak and act in a manner consistent with the imperatives of adhering to rule of law at the national and international levels.

Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism is unmatched in the world, the spokesperson said, adding Pakistan condemns and opposes all forms of terrorism by any individual or group.

Pointing out the atrocities committed by India forces in held-Kashmir, he said Pakistan opposes and condemns acts of terrorism inside Pakistan and elsewhere by India, who claims to be a champion of democracy.
