Three religious organisations immediately banned in Pakistan: SECP sources

ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has bannedthree organisations including Jamaat-ud-Dawa, from collecting funds,according to sources.

Sources said that per a notification issued by SECP the organisations onwhich ban has been imposed include Lashkar-e-Taiba and JuD’s charitable armFalah-e-Insaniyat Foundation.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the government decided totake overthe assets and charities linked to JuD chief Hafiz Saeed. It was said thatthe decision was taken in a recent meeting on national security.

According to the plan, the ambulance services of the organisations are tobe taken over and their funding sources uncovered in the first phase.

Sources revealed that the Punjab government will run the projects of JuD.

Muridke Markaz is also going to be handed over to the government and itsname changed as well, sources stated further.

The Federal Board of Revenue and State Bank will scrutinise funding, assetsof both organisations, sources informed.
