Pakistan hints US the tipping point for NATO supply line cut

ISLAMABAD – Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said that Pakistan hassuspended military and intelligence cooperation with the United States inthe wake of US President Donald Trump’s allegation that Pakistan has giventhe US “nothing but lies and deceit” and suspension of security aid forPakistan.

Addressing a gathering at Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad onTuesday, Khan said the US is facing defeat in Afghanistan despite spendingbillions of dollars.

He alleged that the US is using Pakistan as a ‘scapegoat’ for its failuresin Afghanistan. “Pakistan does not want to put a price on its sacrificesbut wants them to be recognized,” the defence minister said, adding thatPakistan will not allow Afghanistan’s war to be fought on Pakistaniterritory.

To a question, the minister said that Pakistan took the right steps byblocking NATO supplies to Afghanistan in the aftermath of 2011 attack atSalala check post.

It is widely discussed in Pakistan political and military circles that incase of any territorial violation of Pakistan the US supply line toAfghanistan would be cut at that point of time, as happened in Salalacheckpost attack case.
