Afghanistan may lodge complaint against Pakistan in UN Security Council

KABUL – A high-level security delegation from Afghanistan has flown toIslamabad for talks with Pakistani officials on the recent spate of attacksby the Taliban in the country, TOLO News has reported.

The delegation will hand over evidence to the Pakistani government thatshows recent attacks by the Taliban were planned in Pakistan.

If Pakistan does not cooperate in tackling the issue, Afghanistan willlodge a complaint with the UN Security Council, an official from the Afghanministry of interior said on Wednesday.

“Measures are being taken by the Afghan government, especially the ministryof interior, who will share all available evidence with the UN securitycouncil and other countries involved in the process,” said MoI deputyspokesman Nusrat Rahimi.

But, military experts argue that Afghanistan would be better off presentingthe evidence to the UN Security Council instead of taking it to Pakistan.

“The Pakistani government will once again reject the evidence; I think itshould be shared with NATO, US and the UN security council,” said militaryexpert Farooq Bashir.

“With consideration of experience of the last seventeen years, such tripshave been seen in the past between diplomats and military officials fromthe two countries, but no outcomes have been achieved from this process,”said military analyst Mohammad Agul Mujahid.

According to security experts, internal elements who have been cooperatingwith militants must be exposed.

“We call on the intelligence agencies to identity the Pakistani agents andserve justice on them,” said political analyst Najib Kabuli.
