LASHKARGAH: Seven policemen were killed and an eighth wounded after Talibanmilitants stormed their check posts in the Garamsir district of southernHelmand province, an official said Monday.

The security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, toldPajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked security check-posts inChawghakai area late on Sunday night.

He said seven security men were killed and one more was wounded in theovernight assault.

Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the attack which he said wasrepulsed reinforcements arrived at the site.

On the other hand, Qari Yousaf Ahmaid, a Taliban’s spokesman, also theassault left eight policemen dead, five wounded and their nine weaponsseized.
