FARAH CITY: Four policemen, including Afghan Police deputy police chiefhave been killed and seven more policemen gone missing in fresh incidentsof violence in western Farah province, an official said on Sunday.
Governor Spokesman Naser Mehri told Pajhwok Afghan News the vehicle inwhich Deputy Police Chief Gulbahar Mujahid was traveling to the Masawavillage of Pushtroad district struck a roadside bomb.
A policeman was also injured in the roadside bombing, he said.
According to Mehri, three policemen had been injured in a separatemilitants attack in the Masawa village.
Ten rebels were killed and seven other injured after police reinforcementreached to the site of clash, he said.
Dadullah Qani, the Provincial Council, head said militants attacked policecheck-posts on Saturday night in the Syedabad Yazdi area situated threekilometers from police headquarters.
He said three policemen were killed in the attack, eight others wentmissing and the Taliban took all weapons and ammunition available in thecheck-posts.
Mehri said he was unaware of the overnight attack on two policecheck-posts, but Javed the resident of locality, said casualties inflictedin the overnight clash but the exact number of dead and injured was notavailable with him.
