ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman saidSaturday that the enemies of Pakistan have joined hands to hatchconspiracies against the country, but they will always fail in theirheinous designs.
“This is an ideological state made in the name of Allah and nobody can darecast an evil eye on it,” the air chief said according to a press releaseissued by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Media Affairs Directorate. The airchief said this while addressing a unique ceremony held at PAF Museum,Karachi to pay tribute to Air Commodore Sattar Alvi (r), a renowned warveteran of 1974 Arab-Israel war.
Alvi had shot down an Israeli Air Force Mirage aircraft during an aerialcombat in Syria. In the ceremony he presented a flying coverall (suit) ofthe deceased Israeli pilot (Captain Lutz) to PAF Museum.
The air chief said, “The PAF together with its sister services and thenation would thwart the nefarious designs of its enemies and they wouldmeet the same fate as always, Insha Allah.”
“PAF stands ever ready for the aerial defence of the motherland on thestrength of supreme sacrifices and professionalism of its valiantpredecessors, who paved the path of glory for this elite organisation,” headded.
Sohail Aman paid tribute to Air Commodore Sattar Alvi (r) and said theheroics of the legendary fighter pilot not only brought laurels to PAF butwere also a source of pride for the entire nation. He termed the flyingcoverall of the deceased Israeli pilot as a ‘war trophy’ and was of theopinion that it was a valuable addition to the historic archive of PAFMuseum.
The air chief also lauded Group Captain Hussaini’s art stating that hisworld-renowned aviation paintings manifested his earnest efforts towardspreserving PAF’s accounts of professionalism, journey towards progress andsupreme sacrifices made in defence of the country.
He said the illustrious history of PAF depicted by Group Captain Hussainiwould be a source of inspiration for the future generations and instill inthem the spirit of nationhood.
Air Commodore Sattar Alvi (r) is a celebrated fighter pilot of PAF whosingle-handedly shot down the Israeli mirage aircraft while flying avintage Syrian Air Force Mig-21 aircraft, during 1974 Arab-Israel war, andthus became the one and only pilot in the history to have achieved thisrare feat.
On this act of gallantry, he was awarded with Sitar-e-Jurat by thegovernment, and Wisaam Faris and Wisaam Shujaat by the Government of Syria.
Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair was the chief guest on the historicoccasion. On arrival, he was received by the air chief marshal. On thismemorable occasion, the chief guest also inaugurated the “AviationPaintings Exhibition” with the theme “Pakistan Air Force – Defenders ofAerial Frontiers”.
More than 300 pieces of aviation art painted by internationally acclaimedaviation artist of PAF, Group Captain Hussaini (r), would be on display forthe general public.
