ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Defence Production, Science andTechnology, Rana Tanveer Hussain and Iranian Minister of Defence andLogistics of Armed Forces, Brigadier General Amir Hatami Thursday reviewedthe bilateral relations and discussed the possibility of cooperationbetween the defence industries of the two countries.
Rana Tanveer along with a high-ranking defence and science delegation is onan official visit to Iran at the invitation of BrigadierGeneral Amir Hatami, a press release said.
The two sides also signed a joint statement after the discussion onbilateral issues.
Referring to the statement signed with his Iranian counterpart, RanaTanveer Hussain said it showed Pakistan was deeply interested in expansionof defense cooperation with Iran and sought new mechanism for formation ofjoint defense cooperation committee with Iran.
The minister and his delegation paid respect at the mausoleum of thedistinguished founder of Islamic Revolution of Iran, Imam Khomeini.
They also held meetings with Vice-President of Iran and Minister of Defenceand Logistics of Armed Forces.
The Pakistan side thanked the Iranian side for warm reception andhospitality and extended invitation to actively participate inthe Defence Exhibition IDEAS-2018.
Iranian Minister of Defence and Logistics of Armed Forces also accepted theinvitation to visit Islamabad.
