Pakistan s high level diplomatic, military delegation meets Afghan counterparts in Kabul

KABUL – A Pakistani delegation headed by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjuahas arrived in Kabul for talks with the Afghan authorities. In his remarkson the twitter, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal expressedthe confidence that the first meeting of Pak-Afghan joint working groupswill help further solidify bilateral relations between the two countries.

The talks are expected to focus on security, countering terrorism,intelligence sharing and cooperation in the realm of trade and economy.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua will lead the Pakistani delegation.

Pakistan had proposed five joint working groups, which focus on ensuringcomprehensive engagement for countering terrorism, intelligence sharing,military, economy, trade and transit interaction, refugee repatriation andconnectivity.

Foreign office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal has said Pakistan hasalways maintained that there is no military path to peace and stability inAfghanistan and only an Afghan led and Afghan owned peace process willensure peace there.

He said the endless cycle of violence in Afghanistan for decades has andwill only add to the woes of people of that country including the Afghanrefugees in Pakistan who will not be able to return to their homes andreunite with their beloved ones.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua says both Pakistan andAfghanistan should engage in concrete cooperation instead of resorting toblame game.

She made these remarks during meeting of Pak-Afghan joint working groups inKabul today (Saturday).

The foreign secretary strongly condemned recent terror attacks in Kabul andoffered joint investigation into the attacks.
