Pakistan – Afghanistan restore track II dialogues

PESHAWAR – Pakistan has been doing its utmost sincere efforts to restorethe ties with the neighbouring Afghanistan in order to bring peace at itswestern borders.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa had also visited Kabul in therecent past and met with the Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, followingwhich Pakisan and Afghanistan have restored the bilateral talks.

Today a 12-member Afghan delegation has arrived in Islamabad to take partin a track-II dialogue on irritants between the neighbors.

The three-day Pakistan Afghanistan Track 1.5/ II initiative — BeyondBoundaries — is set to begin today (Monday), the Islamabad-based Centerfor Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said.

The CRSS and Safewrold, a UK-based organisation, have jointly organised thedialogue, which is taking place amid signs of improvement in bilateralrelations.

Peace and security, consequences of recent terrorist attack in Afghanistan,economic ties and regional connectivity are the main issues on the agenda.Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad are also affecting traders andrefugees.

The visiting delegates will meet Pakistani ministers and foreign ministryofficials in addition to an interaction with university students inIslamabad.

The Afghan delegation includes advisor to Chief Executive on Trade andRegional Cooperation Mozammil Shinwari, members of parliament andex-Taliban ambassador Abdul Hakeem Mujahid.

Co-Chairman and President of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chambers ofCommerce and Industries Khan Jan Alokozai, former governor of NangarharSaleem Khan Kunduzi and representative of CEO on migration Sekander arealso part of the team.
