KABUL – *Military experts say new security plan for Kabul has failed toimprove security as militants continue to launch coordinated attacks in thecity.*
On late Saturday, Rafigul Afghan, a senior advisor to Chief Executive and akey member of Jamiat-e-Islami was killed by unknown gunmen in PoliceDistrict 17 of Kabul City. The attack was later claimed by the Taliban.
Atiqullah Amarkhil, a military expert said the Kabul security plan has beenfailed and there are still serious security challenges that need to beresolved. He said the plan shouldn’t have been revealed to public.
Criticizing the government over failure to ensure security, some Kabulresidents said they have not seen any improvement in security of KabulCity, despite of government’s new measures.
“The security plan has failed. We don’t see any improvement in security ofthe capital,” said Baryalai Faizi, a Kabul resident.
Wais Ahmad Barmak the Interior Minister said that they have taken newmeasures by installing security cameras and checkpoints in the city. But hesaid the insurgents using new tactics – distinguishing in military uniforms– to target people.
He stressed that they will make further efforts to improve the security ofKabul City.
