ISLAMABAD – National Highway Authority plans to build 216 kilometreGilgit-Shandur road to provide an alternate route to China PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC).
Official sources of NHA said the project would form part ofGilgit-Shandur-Chitral road for which feasibility study had been completed.
The estimated cost of the project is 45 billion rupees.
The official said new road would be an all-weather road and would alsoprovide an alternative route to CPEC during the winter season when the Silkroute is closed due to snowfall.
After Lowari Tunnel , the new project will be another best possible routefor travelling to the region and will save travel time as well.
