*ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR)led by Co-Chairs from Ireland and Iceland visited Pakistan and helddiscussions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.*

Both sides exchanged views on export control measures and the latestpolitical as well as technical development in this area.
This was the third consecutive MTCR outreach mission to visit Pakistanwithin the past couple of years. Both sides exchanged views on exportcontrol measures relevant to the MTCR and the latest political as well astechnical development in this area.
The Director General briefed the delegation about full compatibility ofPakistan’s measures with the best international standards and coverage ofitems and technologies controlled by the MTCR.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s continuing commitment to the goals ofnon-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery means,the Pakistani side underlined that control measures should not impinge onthe developing countries’ legitimate right of access to dual-usetechnologies for socio-economic progress.
The MTCR is an informal grouping of 35 states that seeks to prevent missileproliferation by voluntarily adhering to common export policy guidelinesrelated to missiles and missile technologies.
