KABUL – A member of provincial council of Kunar and a religious scholarwere killed in a suicide bombing in the province on Friday, local officialsconfirmed.

Kunar governor spokesman Ghani Musamim said the explosion occurred inWatapor district at around 1:30pm in which Shah Wali Himmat, member of theprovincial council, was killed.

He said the attacker targeted Himmat’s and that a religious scholar wasalso killed in the explosion.

A security guard of Shah Wali Himmat was wounded in the attack, he said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
