After Kabul, Twin blasts rock Nangarhar killing Police Chief

KABUL – A senior police official was killed in twin blasts in easternNangarhar province of Afghanistan, the local government authorities said.

The incident took place at around 7 am local time in the vicinity of Behsuddistrict of the province.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the districtcriminal investigation director Gen. Nasir Ahmad was killed in theexplosions.

The statement further added that four civilians including two children alsosustained injuries in the explosions.

According to the provincial government, the civilians wounded in theexplosions have been shifted to the hospital and their health condition hasbeen reported as satisfactory.

Provincial governor Mohammad Mangal expressed condolences regarding thekilling of Gen. Nasir Ahmad and condemned the attack by the terroristgroups, according to the governor’s office.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind theincident.

The security situation in eastern Nangarhar province continue todeteriorate during the recent months as the anti-government armed militantand terrorist groups including ISIS loyalists are attempting to expandfoothold and insurgency in this province.
