ISLAMABAD – iPhones coming in 2018 could come with one major update. A reportfrom ChargerLablink>claimsthat Apple iPhones that are expected to launch in September will ship withan 18-watt USB Type-C Lightning fast charger. This will not only facilitatefaster charging but also enable faster data transfer.
The report talks about a new, rounder and comparatively bigger chargingadapter than the current mini 5W power adapter. The new adapter wouldconnect to an iPhone with a Lightning to USB Type-C cable which will alsobe shipped in the box.
The new 18W charger is expected to charge the iPhone at twice as fast asthe current 5W iPhone charger. The third big advantage of this move, apartfrom fast charging and data transfer is that user can also connect iPhonesto Apple laptops.
Apple is planning to launch three new iPhone models this year. The companycould launch a bigger version of iPhone X– the iPhone X Plus along with asuccessor to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, rumoured as iPhone 9 and iPhone 9Plus. There are rumours of an iPhone SE2 also which could launch ahead ofthe September launch of iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9s.
Some reports also suggest that Apple may do away with Apple 9 or 9 Plusmodels and simply continue with the X name. But Mark Gurman in one of therecent reports has confirmed that Apple will launch three iPhone modelsthis year and all the three of them will support FaceID. None of them willsupport TouchID. The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen so it is rumoured thatiPhone XI or iPhone X Plus will sport a bigger screen size of 6.5-inches.
Ming Chi-Kuo, the KGI security analyst, predicts that there will be twoOLED iPhones in 2018. The third model will feature an LCD display. Applemoved to OLED display with iPhone X so it is very much expected that thecompany could continue with it in its future iPhones. Kuo also believesthat all the three 2018 iPhones will do away with TouchID and insteadsupport FaceID.
