LAHORE – Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) chairman Dr Umar Saifcalled on Microsoft founder Bill Gates on Thursday.
Dr Saif said that he felt “great to share how we have used technology anddata to improve immunization coverage, eradicate dengue and improvehealthcare in Pakistan”.
Mr. Gates also appreciated the efforts made in technology in the SouthAsian country, saying that he has never seen such rapid transformationusing technology anywhere in the world.
The PITB is an autonomous body set by the government of Punjab and providesthe foundation for Punjab’s innovation economy. The board aims at not onlymodernizing the governance techniques through transparency induced methodsbut also at increasing the digital literacy of the citizens among manyother services.
Dr Umar Saif, a Pakistani computer scientist and academic, has been thevice-chancellor of the Information Technology University since January 2013and the chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board since November2011.
