Two grenade attacks in occupied Kashmir

SEINAGAR – Militants carried out two grenade attacks on security forces inPulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A National Conferenceleader was a target in one of the attacks, but there was no loss of life ordamage to property.

“Two grenade attacks one at Pulwama and one at Tral. No loss of life andproperty. Police on Job. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

A police official of Tral said a blast took place near the residence ofNational Conference leader Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, who is the son of a formerlegislator late Mohammad Subhan Bhat.

“Ashraf was at his home when the blast took place. It is not clear whetherthe sound was due to a grenade blast or some other thing. However, therewas no loss of life and property,” he said.

On Tuesday, militants shot and injured a special police officer in southKashmir’s Pulwama district, whose leg was amputated at a hospital.

On Sunday night, militants attacked an army camp of 50 Rashtriya Rifles atKakapora in Pulwama district in which a soldier was killed.

Earlier this month, the central government announced halting of operationsagainst militants during Ramzan which started on May 17.
