ISLAMABAD – Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), an attached departmentof Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development wouldsend technical staff to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the urgent basis.An official source told APP here on Tuesday, that the Pakistani skilledlabour demand is increasing in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) and thegovernment is taking various steps to send maximum skilled and unskilledlabour to GCC.
He said that a leading client in Saudi Arabia has demanded services ofworkers for Cinema and Museum in the different fields including MuseumConservator, Museum Registrar, accessibility in education specialist,evaluation and research specialist, public services, program deliverysupport, back of house (technical services), library computer technicalsupport, technical services cataloging and logistics, parking attendant,security specialist.He said that interested candidate could apply till June 4, 2018.
To a question he said that the country at the moment has own its strengthof over 4 mln skilled manpower and 2.5mln among them meet internationalstandards who can contribute significantly to the country’s economy throughforeign remittance.“Saudi Arabia, UAE , Kuwait ,Oman, Bahrain,Qatar, Libya , Malaysia andSouth Korea are identified potential countries for these drives throughcommunity welfare attaché by using OEC’s web portal.
“The campaigns via electronic media in Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC)countries are not possible and for the purpose the events,conferences androad shows will be arranged there after consultation with the highcommissions”, he further elaborated the plan.
He said OEC was seriously concerned over country’s human export decline andrepatriation of skilled work. The declined figures have come to 950,000,washighest in Pakistan’s history, from around 500,000 in last three years dueto economic shifts in Gulf countries.
The release of amount, he said, would help to achieve advancement of directcommunication and diplomatic channels, ensure qualitative training ofworkforce, up gradation of OEC’s infrastructure for expeditious processingand to make sure the repatriation of overseas was made as per workagreements.
He told that they also had moved a proposal regarding addition of Rs 200 inexisting Rs 2,000 Manpower Welfare Fund aimed at welfare of overseasPakistanis that was also under process.- APP
