Pakistan has completed large portion of fencing along Pak Afghan border: Report

RAWALPINDI – Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) Director General MajorGeneral Asif Ghafoor says Pakistan will complete fencing along thePak-Afghan border undeterred.

According to the ISPR, Afghanistan’s cooperation is required in mutualinterest to safeguard the border. The ISPR director general said thatanother son of soil sacrificed his life while making Pak-Afghan border safeand inaccessible for terrorists.

He said a soldier was martyred and another injured when terrorists attackedtroops busy in fencing along Pak-Afghan Border in North Waziristan. SepoyNiaz Ali embraced shahdat while a Junior Commissioned officer was injured.

Asif Ghafoor said a total of 2,611 kilometers of Pak-Afghan border will befenced, which include 1,43 kilometers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1,268kilometers in Balochistan.

The ISPR Chief said fencing of 225 kilometers has been completed, whileanother patch of 397 kilometers will be completed this year. He said 443forts and border check posts are being constructed along thePakistan-Afghanistan border.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said that 156 forts and check posts have beencompleted, while 30 others are under construction. He said 257 forts andcheck posts will be completed till next year.
