ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued Code ofConduct for upcoming general elections.
According to ECP, there will be a complete ban on the use of panaflex andhoardings.
The sizes of posters and banners in the election campaign have also beenfixed.
It has also prohibited the use of pictures of irrelevant persons on banners.
The commission has directed all stakeholders to strictly comply with thiscode and warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
Meanwhile recently the ECP also issued a code of conduct for foreigners.According to rules issued, no person would be permitted to observe electionprocess unless he/she presents accreditation card issued by ECP or itsauthorized officer.
Officials are required to display their official identification badgesissued by ECP and must present it to election officials and securityofficials when requested.
Observers bound to respect the sovereignty of Pakistan as well asfundamental rights and freedoms of its people.
Observers required to maintain good behaviour, respect others includingexhibiting the sensitivity for culture and customs of the country and shallobserve the highest level of professional conduct throughout their presencehere.
Observers are required to follow instructions issued by the ECP and stateauthorities including security officials and needed to maintain arespectful attitude towards them.
Political impartiality shall be maintained by observers at all costs whileobserving the election process. They shall not exhibit any bias orpreference with regard to local authorities, political parties andcandidates as well as any issue related to the process of election, saidthe code of conduct.
