ISLAMABAD – Section-144 has been imposed in Islamabad ahead of the 2018general elections.
According to the notification, there would be complete ban on any kind ofshow of weapons and violent activities.
A ban has also been imposed on fireworks and sound system in the federalcapital under Section-144.
The district administration has also imposed a ban on stone crushing andwall chalking in Islamabad.
The notification further stated that there would be a complete ban onpasting pamphlets and posters and holding rallies.
Pakistan will hold a general election on July 25 and President MamnoonHussain had approved the date, electoral officials.
All 342 members of the country’s National Assembly will face voters, whichthey last did in 2013. Pakistan’s National Assembly is the lower chamber ofits Parliament, which also has a Senate. Senators are chosen by provinciallegislators, who’ll also face the country’s more than 100 million votersthat day.
Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf isexpected to be the main challenger to the ruling party in the generalelections.
Earlier, the ECP announced that a total of 105.95 million voters will usetheir right of vote to elect the new government.
Among them are 59.2 million male and 46.7 million female voters, showing Agender gap of over 12.5 million.
