SRINAGAR – Militants attacked a CRPF party, leaving two of its men,including an officer, dead at Achabal in Occupied south Kashmir’s Anantnagdistrict on Friday. Lashkar-e-Tioba claimed responsibility for the attackthat occurred at 11 am when CRPF troops along with Jammu and Kashmir policewere deployed on law and order duties.
Militants opened heavy fire from AK-47 riffles, injuring four people,including three CRPF men and a civilian.
The martyrs were identified as ASI Mishri Lal Meena and constable SandeepYadav. The injured were shifted to a hospital where an ASI and a constablewere declared dead. The condition of another injured CRPF man is stated tobe critical. Police said those who attacked the CRPF party came in avehicle.
Soon after the attack, reinforcements were rushed to the spot whichcordoned off the area to hunt down the militants who managed to escape.
Inspector General of CRPF (Operations) Zulfikar Hassan told DNA: “Our menalso fired back. Unfortunately we lost two of our boys.”
