LAHORE – A PML-N rally led by former chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharifhas departed towards Lahore airport to welcome Nawaz Sharif and MaryamNawaz.

Strict security measures are in place due avoid any untoward situation asthe city braces to receive PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif. A large number ofpolice personnel are deployed to handle the situation.

Interim Home Minister Shuakat Javed on Friday defended suspension of mobilephone services in Lahore and clarified that the steps taken by theprovincial government were meant to ensure law and order in the city.

Briefing the media persons, the minister said the PML-N has not soughtpermission from the authorities for the rally to welcome their leaders,Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

Nawaz’s Sharif’s flight# EY243 from Abu Dhabi to Lahore has been delayed bytwo hours and will now land at Allama Iqbal Airport at 08:00pm, Geo Newsreported quoting airport officials. The plane was earlier scheduled toreach at 06:15pm.

The former PM and his daughter Maryam Nawaz have earlier today reached AbuDhabi on their way to Lahore from London.
