MALAYSIA – In Malaysia, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Cabinetministers and ruling party elected representatives have been classified asmembers of the administration as a measure to curb corruption.

Speaking at press conference in Putrajaya today, Malaysian Prime MinisterDr Mahathir Mohamad said that this measure would ensure that all thesepeople would not escape legal action if they had unexplained assets andincome.

He said that the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinetministers also cannot accept unauthorized gifts.

The Prime Minister also reminded government officers to lodge reports onelements of corruption in their respective departments or ministries in theeffort to curb corruption.
