SRINAGAR – Militants shot dead a Indian CRPF soldier-on-leave when theystormed into his home at Naira village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama districtlate Sunday evening.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Mohammed Aslam Chaudhary told DNAthat the CRPF constable had come home as he was under transfer from onebattalion to another.
“Militants stormed the residence of the CRPF jawan and firedindiscriminately at him,” he said.
Identified as Nasser Ahmad, the jawan suffered grevious wounds and wasimmediately rushed to the hospital. “He later succumbed to his wounds,”said Chaudhary.
This is the second incident in the last 36 hours when militants havetargeted security force personnel on leave in troubled South Kashmir region.
On Friday night, a group of three heavily armed militants stormed thehouse of SPO Mudasir Ahmad Lone at Chankatar village of Tral and abductedhim on the gun point. He was released 24 hours later after his motherappealed for forgiveness in a video.
Nasser is the fifth security force man on leave to have been targetted inthe last two months and third in last one week alone.
