UAE to host new quadrilateral dialogues on Afghanistan without Pakistan

ABU DHABI – *Abu Dhabi is hosting a quadrilateral meeting this week betweenAfghanistan, United States, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to finalize an actionplan on counter-terrorism, peace and regional cooperation.*

Hanif Atmar, Afghanistan’s National Security Advisor, arrived in Abu Dhabion Monday, leading a high-ranking delegation.

He will meet with his US, Saudi and UAE counterparts.

The last such meeting was in March in Washington between the nationalsecurity advisors of the four countries.

At the time, the National Security Council said Atmar held a four-dayquadrilateral meeting and discussed the fight against terrorism, the Afghanpeace process and the country’s economic development.

Participants at the meeting expressed their support for the peace processin Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for joint efforts and practical stepsin order to achieve success.

National security advisers have decided to identify the issue of terroristfinancing and to take common action to eliminate them, the NSC said at thetime.

At this meeting, consultations and shared responsibilities were discussedabout a specific mechanism needed among the four countries.
