Mohammad Hafeez refused to be part of national team in last ODI match against Zimbabwe

HARRARE – According to reports, Mohammad Hafeez was included in the 5th ODIof the series however, the senior player refused to play in place of thein-form openers while also considering the third opening option an insult.

The all-rounder is reportedly pretty upset with the fact that the teammanagement ignored him for the ODI series after he declined the offer toplay in the Global T20 League in Canada for Rs 1.5 Crore.

The openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman had both score two centuries in 4games which is why Hafeez said that it is not reasonable to play whilekeeping one of the in-form openers on the bench.——————————

Following the series, the all-rounder had a discussion with Head CoachMickey Arthur about his future plans, asking him whether the teammanagement wants him to be a part of the future plans or not.

Hafeez further said that if he isn’t in the future plans of the teammanagement, he would like to leave with dignity. The team management toldthe cricketer that he is still an ‘*important’ *player.

According to the sources, Mickey Arthur wants to build a team aroundyoungsters and Hafeez doesn’t fit in therefore he wasn’t given a chance tocement his place in the XI by scoring against the depleted Zimbabwe team.

The right-handed batsman is currently in the category A of the PCB’scentral contract. A drop in the category would mean that it is time forHafeez to bid farewell to the game.

Hafeez has played 50 tests, 200 ODIs and 83 T20Is having last played testcricket in 2016. He said that he would take his decision after discussionswith the selectors.
